Welcome back from the Golden Week holidays – the city has plenty of events lined up for families! There are quite a number of markets – from
organice produce to knick-knacks – as well as dining promotions that will keep everyone busy.

Xiaopu Village Street Market

Have 798 and Nanluoguxiang become too touristy for you? Head out of the city and see something different at Xiaopu Art Village's weekly street market. The market will be held on the streets outside Chuzou Cafe until October, with around 30 local vendors selling all kinds of products ranging from handmade soap to vintage bric-a-brac and should be part of a visit to Xiaopu and the wider Songzhuang Art District. Sunday Market

The Beijing Riviera Country Club is holding a Sunday market at its clubhouse on Sunday 13. Expect plenty of fashion accessories, local food and beverages and knick-knacks. Kids will be entertained by a bouncy castle and other activities.

F2N Market

This weekend the Farm to Neighbors (F2N) Market returns after the Golden Week break with its usual organic produce, mini-workshops and other healthy products on display. F2N Market is the first market organisation in China dedicted to promoting the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Rumble in the Jumble: The Future is Now

Rumble in the Jumble returns on Saturday 12 with the theme: The Future is now. Rumble in the Jumble is a monthly hutong market event where Beijingers can find different kinds of vendors from craft foods to handcrafted jewellery, to second-hand items, to works of fine art. The list of vendors also changes monthly, ensuring variety and making it the perfect place to find pretty unexpected vendors including on-site craft workshops, storytelling, reiki, caricature drawing, and many other unique services.

Expat Connection Family Fair & Picnic

Expat Connection will be holding its annual Family Fair. This year it will be held at the Canadian International School of Beijing (CISB). Come meet other expat families while having food and fun at the over 60 stalls on CISB's grounds. The kids will have a field day with activities such as archery, storytelling, giant bubbles and live music.

Casual Family Ceilidh

The Beijing Scottish Society will be hosting its next casual Family Ceilidh at Dulwich College Beijing. Expect lots of dancing, a buffet meal (including a kids meal!) and drinks. Fun for the whole family and everyone is welcome. Feel free to bring friends, family and children! Tickets include dancing, buffet meal and two drink ticket vouchers. Additional soft drinks and alcohol is available for purchase at a reasonable price. Shuttle buses are also available.

Listen to the Lucerne Festival Orchestra with famed Riccardo Chailly interpreting pieces from Rachmaninov and Mahler. Be prepared to be suitably impressed by Alexander Malofeev, a young Russian pianist who the Grand Prix of the International Competition for Young Pianists “Grand Piano Competition” in 2016.

Three Stories of Yimeng

The National Ballet of China presents Yimeng, A Ballet in Three Chapters . The ballet portrays courageous women of Yimeng Mountains in present-day Shandong Province who made sacrifices of themselves and their families for the revolution that eventually led to the birth of New China.

Leonardo and His Outstanding Circle

Marking 500 years since Leonardo Da Vinci'd death is the 'Leonardo and His Outstanding Circle' exhibition at Cafa Art Museum. This exhibition presents a total of 30 pieces of paintings by Leonardo and his art group – Leonardeschi and includes both the works of the students who learned directly from Leonardo and the followers who were influenced by him.

Russian Court Ceremony

If you've ever been curious about what court life during the Kremlin era must have been like, then this exhibition is for you. On display are 151 artifacts from the collection of the Kremlin Museum's armory including the clothes and uniforms of the Tsar, the Russian empire's supreme monarch.
